Few days ago, in a expectation of Drupal 6 release, we celebrated the first birthday of Drupal Theme Garden. By this occasion we are disclosing many interesting statistical data, gathered in a past year. The statistics shown here is based on the phpMyVisites installed on our server.
This statistics has a substantial weight due to our exceptional popularity in Drupal community and very high traffic. We are actually very proud of actual figures. For example only in a Q4 2007, we had a 75260 visitors and 709683 page views.
Furthermore, the statistics shown here is based on representative sampling in a scope of Drupal CMS developers and users. The results are not relevant in terms of internet population as a whole.
First, let’s have a look at the demographic distribution, by continent and by country. We can see that all six continents are represented. Most of our visitors come from the North America, Europe and Asia.
If we take a look at the Visitors by Country bar chart, we can see that the vast majority of the visitors come from the United states. Interesting also is that in a the first dozen countries shown, only the two are not from Europe (USA and Taiwan).
Now, let’s have a look at our visitors viewing habits, in terms of browser usage, operating system and screen resolution. Some might be surprised, but in contrast to common Microsoft IE dominance we have an opposite situation. The Mozilla Firefox is absolutely dominant with almost 60%.
Next image, Browsers (by Type), illustrates this domination even better.
For web developers is very important browser plugins usage. We can see that Java and Flash are enabled on more then 90% computers.
In the field of operating systems, the Windows XP is absolutely number one.
The XGA (1024x768) and SXGA (1280x1024) screen resolutions are the most popular making more then a half of our visitors.
All in all, the two top settings are Windows XP/Firefox/1280x1024 and Windows XP/Firefox/1024x768, making 25% of the total.
